Research Interests:

Pharmacology & drug design, Mitochondria and Shc and mTOR as drug targets to ameliorate disease.

Research Summary:

The Cortopassi laboratory designs new drugs to hit novel drug targets, to ameliorate diabetes & liver disease, neurodegenerative disease and cancer. All phases of preclinical drug development, from compound design and medicinal chemistry through testing in animal models are performed. Lastly, we have identified mitochondrial toxins in the environment, and are working through their impact.

Highlighted Techniques:

High-throughput drug screening, High-throughput mitotoxicity screening, Microarray, QRTPCR, Biochemical assays
