Research interests:

applications of sustainable chemistry to the synthesis of renewable, biobased products,

medicinal chemistry, particularly involving CNS-active molecules such as cannabinoids, ergot alkaloids, and opioids, 

computational modeling of noncovalent interactions.

Research summary:

We have shown that synthetic modification of certain drugs, for example cannabinoids, can eliminate their abuse potential while maintaining therapeutic action. Most recently, we have been focusing on "pseudocannabinoids" for the treatment of epilepsy, metabolic syndrome, muscle recovery, pain, and cognitive decline.
